Five Twenty Nine (part 2)

My current playlist while editing consists of Childish Gambino, The Chariot, We Were Promised Jetpacks, The Postal Service, The National, August Burns Red, Adventure Club, and Skrillex… When I say I listen to some pretty eclectic shit, I mean it.

Five Twenty Nine

Is this what my life has come to? My nights wasted away in front of the screens of my computers. Where uploading, downloading, converting, pro-res’ing, gigabyte this and gigabyte that. We’ve got clipping problems. Lets send the asian in to trouble shoot… Deadlines are deadlines and in my industry I really have to thank the gods of dreams and sleep for casting me out of their kingdom. Editing is a nightmare when it comes to working on something you don’t necessarily like. I’m sorry Jaime, but there isn’t enough space on your hard drive for that… Computer, I hate you sometimes.

till I find the righteous one, computer blue..

(yeah thats a Prince reference lol)

Five Twenty Seven

Six fifteen in the morning and I’m sobering up. Have a 9am call time so I’m not going to sleep.

Some things stay different. And some things should stay the same.

What the hell am I even talking about.. yeah I’ll send you a text later.

Five Twenty Three

Writing about being busy is so pointless. You can’t call it a party if it happens every night right? I’ve been trying to write an entry for the last few days and it always starts with how busy I am. But since thats not really news… haha.

Anyways, had a slew of meetings today and another one tomorrow at the SAG offices in San Francisco. We’re gearing up for two short films in June and again in July. Its been a while since we’ve shot narrative. Something to balance out all the corporate/ commercial work.

Finally threw out that old dusty couch from the office. I think that will help with everyone’s allergies. We tossed it out on the curb and a huge dust cloud flew out of it. Disgusting. There’s so much room for activities now.

Haha totally worked on this commercial.

Five Fifteen

1. Sleep

2. Clean your place and do laundry. Domesticate your space.

3. Have a social life.

The other day on set I was talking to the 1st AD and she told me that people in the life are only capable of doing two out of the above three on their days off. I look back on the past few months and even up to today and realize she was absolutely right.

Five Fourteen

Yeah, its getting harder to really sit down and write something on this blog thats meaningful. I finally have a moment to myself in between all the work I’ve been doing lately. Its back to work on wednesday so I’m forcing myself to really buckle down and update this blog. Sometimes reading about your own life makes it all that much more believable.

My work efforts has really been coming into fruition as of late. I have to say I’ve reached a new level of professionalism and have really reached the upper echelon of networking in the SF bay area. Wondering about the legitimacy of my industry contacts is a thing of the past. We’re gearing up for a Sag short in a month or two. More on that later.

I’ve been looking into the Director’s Guild of America’s Assistant Director training program. I’m really thinking about applying next year. Ad’ing is something that I’ve taken a liking to. Its a two year program of on the job training either in LA or New York. But we’ll see how the rest of this year goes first.

I’ve had some really big lifestyle changes since the beginning of this year. I never make new year resolutions but I’m seeing differences between last year and now. I went paleo and lost almost thirty lbs. yay me right? haha. I’ve been on some really fun shoots this year. I stopped drinking and partying. Mostly because I work all the time and I’m too tired, but also because I got tired of the social scene. Its probably mutual. I never really fit in with the community theater crowd in fairfield.

Theres a difference in being alone and being lonely. I’m too damn busy and too damn driven to really care about that kind of stuff. It can be sad from the angle you look at it. But regardless, its a sadness I chose. Thank god for making me a moral-less bastard. I wouldn’t say I’m happy. I’ll just say that things don’t suck right now.

This post was written with the help of The National.
